Dress Up Your Walls

I’ve discovered a site that gives a whole new meaning to dressing up your walls.  When we think of putting stuff on the wall, we typical think pictures, maybe shelves… but Wall Candy (The Ultimate Design on Blogspot) is something totally different and my mind is racing with all the possibilities for our own home.  I personally love words and quotes, and with Wall Candy, you can create any word or quote you’d like (even monograms!) and in your choice of font.  This would be a great way to personalize – you could put names above the towel hooks in the bathroom so there is no confusion on who’s is who’s or you could put the family name over the family portrait or set of family pictures.  The possibilities are endless.

A little about Abby from Wall Candy:

I am a crazy busy halfway stay at home mom, I teach cheer camps during the summer and gymnastics classes the rest of the time,  I have been doing vinyl signs in my spare time for the last three years, and my latest obsession is making little girls tutus. I have two beautiful daughters, ’4 and 1′, and am married to the most wonderful man.

Wall Candy is offering a $30 gift certificate to one lucky Shake The Salt reader.  To enter, visit Wall Candy, then come back here and tell us your ideas for dressing up your walls with Wall Candy.

For a second entry, subscribe to my RSS feed and leave an additional comment letting me know.

I would do it in my daughters room with her name!

Kim M August 15, 2008 at 2:34 pm

I would love to use one of my favorite quotes in my sons room. “Fairy Tales are true not only because they tell us dragons exist but that dragons can be beaten.”

Kerry Lang August 15, 2008 at 2:37 pm

I am not sure what exact words I will use but I am planning on having a saying or verse to wrap around my whole bedroom once we are finished remodeling it!

Vicky Boackle August 15, 2008 at 2:39 pm

I consider myself a survivor and would love some words of encouragement ie: courage, faith, strength to put above my bed. Your work is beautiful.

(ooh…and I just found “I love you to the moon and back”. Definitely need that for my daugther’s room!

Tammy August 16, 2008 at 1:12 am

I would definitely choose some sort of Bible Verse.

Angela Kinder August 16, 2008 at 10:11 am

I wouldn’t mind putting a wall of sayings on there. All I have on my walls are posters, Texas Longhorns items, and paint. After a while, you get tired of seeing white and orange. Perhaps a witty quote would be great to get me through the day.

Sharon Jones August 16, 2008 at 12:15 pm

I would let my daughter do her room up with whatever she wants…as long as it is pink. GREAT contest…thanks!

I have vinyl letters in my living room and people love them- especially my 16 year old sister who REALLY wants some for her room. I’d like to win this for her so she can put something fabulous above her bed!

Kate August 17, 2008 at 12:58 pm

I would want something for the play room. Maybe this quote by Dr. Suess to put over the book shelf “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

TinaJewel August 17, 2008 at 2:32 pm

I would use this to write the motto for our marriage, Romans 8:28, to put on our bedroom wall!

We are going from owning to renting and my daughter is concerned about the restrictions in decorating her room. I would buy her some of these and that would give her the freedom to personalize without worrying about damage or excessive nail/tack holes.

Sarah August 17, 2008 at 8:22 pm

I’d like something with our family name on a board and “Familes are Forever” in the background, or maybe something to put on a square tile for in the kitchen.

How wonderful. I LOVE the glass blocks too! They would make great teacher’s gifts.

If I won I’d probably get the words “Pure Imagination” and put it above my desk. It has a special meaning to me.

Thank you for a fun giveaway.

Jessica H August 17, 2008 at 11:59 pm

I love the beautiful cursive lettering, it would be perfect for jazzing up my cubicle at work with fun phrases

Cindi August 18, 2008 at 2:34 am

Hi, I like the idea of the word “Welcome” with the house or the wheat. I would display it so when people entered our home, they would see it. Thanks, Cindi

Kasey P August 19, 2008 at 4:13 pm

I have a spare bedroom that I haven’t done anything with since we moved into the house and my husband keeps saying he likes the white walls, but I think they are lacking something so this would be a wonderful excuse to do something in that room. :o )

Sarah at themommylogues August 19, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Oh I love that! I keep meaning to “decorate” around my house. I’m not very good at it, and painting is such a challenge (as in time consuming). So this would be an awesome way to dress up a room quickly.

Christi August 19, 2008 at 9:15 pm

I love the glass blocks!! I’d love to have some of those with quotes around the house!

Tracye August 20, 2008 at 2:06 pm

I think I’d like a fancy mongram for my kids’ rooms. Especially my boy. There’s NOTHING on his walls, yet. And he’s almost two!

Thanks for the chance!
