So, the first two days of using the Kaizen theory to start an exercise regiment and to get to bed at a reasonable time went great! Goals accomplished. Day three (yesterday) did not go at all as planned, and solely due to the fact that I slacked. Being that as it may, I am continuing on.
I am in the process of working on adding another area to my Kaizen list: household duties. I’ve tried Flylady’s Zone plan, but waiting a full month to put the focus on each room just seems too long for me (especially since I have a two year old boy running rampant!), and some rooms aren’t even part of the regular zone plan (children’s rooms &, office for example – two areas that often need the most attention in my house!). I’ve decided to make a “room a day” plan where each day of the week is assigned one or more rooms to really focus on, and just do general pickup / daily stuff each day.
Following the Kaizen method, I am starting small & simple. We’ve had so much going on lately, plus between keeping up with B and launching the new site, I haven’t had as much time to focus on deeper cleaning & organization (sometimes barely maintaining! LOL!). So, my goal for the next week or two is to simply implement this plan and focus more attention than basic pick-up in the focus room of each day. After I am adjusted to this new routine, and get through some of the “clutter”, I’ll begin to do deeper cleaning and organization in each room.
Hi, my name is Christy and I have clutter. (I’m certain I’m the only one. No one else has a clutter issue, right?). However, I also have a plan. A downside to our home is its total lack of storage space, which limits how I can organize what we do have & intend to keep. We have plans to put up a shed and I will be delegating some things to Goodwill.

I TRY (stress TRY) to break the zones down by day too, so Monday I am in the entry & dinning room, Tuesday the Kitchen. The Flylady thing works for me, but it isn’t for everybody!

Yep, I’m hearing more and more that a focus per day is the “better” way to go. I’m not sure what is working for me. I’m barely functioning myself, let alone keep a house and four other kids going. But, Christy, you are motivating me to keep at it. To keep at the schedule I started just for a general routine of our day! It’s worked so far. But the moment I get slack, things fall off the track very quickly.
