Gary at The Green Path Company sent over the Standout Shirt, which reads: Don’t be afraid to standout, Be yourself! This shirt is so soft and comfy! You may have caught an earlier post where I mentioned not being very green, but wanting to try. Check out this info on organic cotton that I’ve been reading. I seriously had NO IDEA about the facts on regular cotton.
A little about The Green Path Company:
Organic cotton apparel… youth education on growing up green… and we sponsor a volunteer trail restoration group. We also have an environmental blog and I write articles and simple green living tips for several other groups.
As I start to learn more about “going green” I’ll be checking out that blog! BTW, there is a sale going on the Green Path Company you should check out.
The Green Path Company is offering a lucky Shake The Salt reader an organic cotton tote bag! To win, visit the GPC’s Green Store, then come back and tell us what you love about their products.
For a second entry, comment (in a separate post) about what you are doing to be more green.
An additional entry also available for subscribers of my RSS Feed! That gives you 3 chances to win!
Open to US & CAN mailing addresses.

I am taking baby steps in becoming more green. I try not to use chemicals for household cleaning. I have been using vinegar and baking soda more and more. To clean the drain and air freshner. Even to keep the ants away!

I like their totes. I am trying to stockpile as many as I can for those big trips, trying to keep them in both our vehicles and most of all trying to REMEMBER to use them at the store. Their totes are so cool.

100 August 24th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I like that they are educating people, not just selling products. I did not know the following:Conventional cotton is one of the most pesticide-laden crops in the world; accounting for only 3% of the cultivated land BUT accounting for 25% of the annual pesticides used and 10% of the annual herbicides used. Organic cotton production is all natural and uses NO chemicals in the cultivation of the crop or the conversion of the crop into clothing. It certainly got my attention!
101 August 24th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
We have taken baby steps in a lot of areas toward “going green”. We are recycling, we carry reuseable totes for shopping, we have changed to energy efficient lightbulbs, we try to “make our trips count” to use less gas, we buy things at garage sales and donate our no longer used things to goodwill..we feel good about the things we are doing, but we know there is still much left to do.

We have always recycled, but now we are trying to cut back on the products that we use that impact the enviroment by staying away from the one time use “disposible” mindset that many products have today. I can’t tell you how many waterbottles/soda cans our neighbors throw away in a week.
128 August 25th, 2008 at 11:09 am
