If you are drying them by hand, with a dish towel…then never. That is totally gross.

    Always airdry.

I always hand-wash my dishes - I live overseas and don’t have a dishwasher! So, I use hot water to rinse, and most of the time try to let them air dry. The hot water ensures that they will air-dry more quickly. If I soak them first, and wash them so that they look clean, and feel clean to the touch (no crusted on stuff - yuk!), then that’s about as clean as I can expect to get them. OH, and I wash the silverware and glasses first, since those are the things that directly touch your mouth, and then the plates and after that any mixing bowls or pots and pans when the wash water is the dirtiest.

I just use the hottest water I can stand, and look and feel for gunk.

Like junglewife, I wash glasses first, then silverware, plates and bowls, and pots/pans are always last.

I add more soap if the suds are gone.

I try not to have to wash anything but pots and pans by hand. Then it’s hot water and air dried.

Hmm, good question. Never really thought about it. We have dishwasher that most things go into. For my few things I hand wash I just go by sight and feel. I hope they are really clean when I’m done at least!

Hot water, good anti bacterial dish soap, air dry! I always hand wash , we don’t have a dish washer and if you do need to dry them, use a separate hand towel from the one you usually dry your hands with!

Hand wash? Ewwww! I have a friend who hand washes everything even though she has a dishwasher. She says it’s just as quick. But it’s not as sanitary! Sorry, no handwashing for me unless I forgot to run the dishwasher and really need a certain dish.

We don’t currently have a dishwasher, so handwashing is the only option. I use realy hot water, often let them soak, and when I have quite a few to wash I tend to switch out the water if it seems to be getting dirty.

    I mostly air-dry the dishes.

Does anyone add anything to the soapy water or only use specific products or have any other dishwashing “secrets”?

If I can’t see or feel gunk, then it is clean enough!!!

HOT HOT water, lots of soap and I scrub way too much most likely. Also, the dryer will let me know if anything was left…but that never happens. ;-)

I feel they aren’t truly clean unless they run through the diswasher, but I am a germ freak.

I hate to wash dishes, so I mostly use the dishwasher. As for pots and pans, Just scrub and rinse as best I can!
