Random Question: Where is the farthest you’ve traveled?

OK, it is random question time again!  Who wants to play?  :)

Where is the farthest that you have traveled?

For business, pleasure, whatever…  You are also welcome to share any favorites (memories, places to eat / shop, whatever) from that trip and if you’ve blogged about, feel free to include a link.  Or, you can just name the place.

The farthest that I have traveled was for our honeymoon in 2005.  We went to Ireland and I must tell you we had the best time.  The people are absolutely wonderful and very friendly.  We flew into Shannon, spent most of our trip on the border of two small towns in County Waterford, driving around the nearby area, shopping for groceries each day at the local shop, cooking most our meals, and relaxing. We also spent a couple of days in Dublin, before flying out of the Dublin airport.

Prior to Ireland, the two farthest places I had been to were Alaska and Caracas, Venezuela.

Be sure to check out the previous random question & keep an eye out for the next one.  It could pop up at any time!

Phoenix, Arizona (from Boston Mass) for a week long training for work… it was beautiful there and I wish I had more time to explore! I would definitely go back.

I’ve been to Hong Kong and China several times. Love HK. Prices there have gotten proressively higher since I started going. There is a block long street with fabulous restaurants, but can’t think of the name of it right now.

I went to Prague last year and it was absolutely wonderful – clean, colorful and full of beautiful architecture and art nouveau. The people were extremely friendly and spoke excellent English. Posted several times on my blog with pictures. See http://phyllisdobbs.info/category/prague/

I went to Nicaragua several years ago on a mission trip. It was an awesome experience!

I went from the Yukon Territory to Prince Edward Island. It was a school exchange trip. Had a great time.

I took a class in Israel and Jordan before I got married! It was an incredible experience!
I blogged about it here:

I am not sure which is further, but I have been to Austalia for pleasure (LOVED IT!) and the Phillipines for business (not quite as much!)

WOW! A bunch of world travelers! The only places I have been other than the continental U.S. is Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. I would love to go to Australia!

The farthest I’ve been is where I live right now – Indonesia! I don’t think it’s the farthest place you can get geographically from the US, but I don’t think there’s anywhere else you can get by commercial airplane from the States that takes quite as long (see, I’m ruling out places in the middle of Africa where you have to take multiple-day bus or trains to get there!) To get to where I live, it’s a trans-pacific flight to, let’s say, Hong Kong. That flight is usually 14 hours or so. Then it’s another 4 or so to Singapore. Then about 1 1/2 to Jakarta. Then an 8-hour red-eye to Papua, Indonesia. Then about another hour to the city in the mountains where we live! Whew! From start to finish it takes about 3 days one-way!

I live in CA and I have been to South Africa. My husband’s parents were missionaries there, so my husband grew up all around South Africa. Right before we got married I spent two weeks there with his parents (we met here in CA at college). I went to Game Reserves, Johannesburg, Pretoria. It was AMAZING!!!

The farthest place I’ve ever been was from Texas to La Paz, Bolivia. Oh.. or Culumani, also in Bolivia. (or near there anyhow, I was 14)

I put my feet in Lake Titicaca (Yes.. you can laugh now, even at 35 I still laugh), which is the tallest lake in the world.

Cold Cold water!

Though, amazing, they have a church to the Virgin Mary there and it has some intense power that resides in it. It’s such a beautiful place that even 21 years later, my heart still aches remembering it!

Hi there! Loving talking to you on twitter.

In answer to this question, the farthest place I have traveled is Bangkok. Farthest place I lived was either Argentina or Germany–probably Germany. Place I want to go before I die is India–all over. I’d live there if I could. China was awesome. Wow! I shouldn’t get started.
