The Potty Training Chronicles

Looks like we are set to begin – again – on the potty training journey.  I’m going to dig up all the great tips y’all shared during the Pull-Ups giveaway.  I need more structure to my days.  I don’t know if that is completely off topic or fits right in, but lately it just hasn’t felt like there’s been any structure to my days & I need it. Maybe it fits right in, in that with better structure I’ll be better able to handle potty training.  He is giving me more indications than before, so I’m really feeling he’s ready. (Me? Not so much, LOL. Not sure why.)

So, if you are up for it, let’s dish about it.  What methods have you tried? What has worked for you? Living with a nudist for a week (or however long)? Training pants / diapers? “Big Boy” / “Big Girl” underwear? How often do you take them and put them on the potty? Do you leave it in the bathroom or put it in a different or more central room?  If they are ready or even somewhat ready, how long does it take until it clicks? What about naps and nighttime? What about going to the store or other errands? Are you potty training right now?

I’m right with you – starting to potty train my youngest (2-1/2 years) now that the ‘big girls’ will be in school. So far we’ve tried just putting her in undies and taking her potty every half hour – sometimes that works, sometimes not. We also use incentives (stickers, candies, etc.). She knows what happens on the potty – and does go. It’s just the whole ‘not going in the undies’ part that we need to work on. Good luck, and I’m hoping to see some great tips here too! :)

We used “Potty Train in Just One Day” and it worked really well for my 2 1/2 year old boy. You can read about the details on my blog from the May 24th posts. He had to be potty trained before he could start preschool, which he did today. He still wears Pull-Ups when he sleeps. Don’t know how long we’ll be doing that!

I really like “Potty Train in Just One Day” If you are consistent that day, the rest is history. My daughter was potty trained not long after her 2nd birthday and the boys were both right after their 3rd birthday. It went much smoother when I went to only cloth intead of PullUps. When they are ready, make sure you have a full day or two to commit to doing mostly potty runs and changing. It will work! Can’t wait to hear how things go.
