Karito Kids

Are you looking for the perfect gift for a special girl? Let me introduce you to Karito Kids, where they combine a large (21” tall!) life-like doll, fun adventure books, a range of interchangeable clothing & accessories, an interactive website, and an awareness of helping others around the world.

Karito Kids sent us Zoe & I have to say she is one trendy (and cute!) 11-year-old girl in the form of a doll. She comes with an adventure book wherein she and her best friend Hana are on the hunt to find a missing tiara in Zoe’s home or circumstances will happen that will cause her to move away from the city and friend she loves. Zoe is American, but Karito Kids has dolls of many nationalities and cultures. What a great way to learn about another nationality! Be sure to check out Zoe’s blog.

BUY IT: Zoe From US Doll With Adventure Book - $100; other dolls & accessories available. {NEW: Travel dolls are available for $20}

I love the Kidizoom Camera from Vtech!  My two year old son loves to look through the pictures on my digital camera and pretend to take pictures and now he will be able to do that with his own digital camera.  He has not yet laid eyes on it as I am keeping it under wraps until our trip in December, but from checking it out myself, I know he is going to love it as much as I do.  Features: 1.3 megapixels with 1.8″ color screen, Connector cables for TV or PC hook-up, SD card slot for extra memory, 16 MB internal memory that stores 200+ photos or up to 5 minutes of video, Three preschool games for added fun.

Zoobie Pets

An adorable plush animal, a soft pillow, and a warm blanket – you’ll want to check out the three-in-one Zoobie Pets.  We have Kojo the Croc and he is so soft and comfy.  If there’s a kidlet on your gift list this year that loves stuffed animals (and we all know how overwhelming a child’s stuffed animal collection can get!) consider this as an alternative. It technically is a plush animal, but is much more practical!

BUY IT: Kojo The Croc, 16” - $30-$40; other styles available. Click here to order & use code CBS for 20% off through December 1, 2008.

Comfy Easy PC For Toddlers

The Comfy Easy PC Keyboard {Toddler’s PC Learning System} is exactly what I have been searching for. We have a system that hooks to the TV, but I have been searching high and low for one in his age bracket to hook to the computer so that “B” could play on his computer while Mommy is working at hers. Thanks to Comfy, we now have a system and a whole range of software that he can enjoy {and won’t even know he’s learning!}.

From Comfy’s website: “The Easy PC System has been designed with toddlers in mind, and fits their motor and cognitive skills. The System allows young children to enjoy and learn from various activities, without requiring reading skills or the ability to use a computer mouse. Children progress at their own pace according to their own level, interest and growth” The Learning System Keyboard includes a CD, so it makes a complete gift. Additional learning CDs are also available.

BUY IT: Toddler’s PC Learning System (includes one disc) - $50-60; other pkgs & additional programs available.

Backyard Buddy Blocks

With the Backyard Buddy Blocks by ImagiPlay, the special toddler on your list can piece together 6 different animals. There are four wooden blocks, and each one has one-quarter of each animal painted on it. The blocks must be put in the holder with the right sides up and in the right order to see the animal. It is very simple, yet gets them thinking! It features a fox, frog, skunk, squirrel, raccoon, and rabbit. This would also make a great stocking stuffer.

BUY IT: Backyard Buddy Blocks - $12.

See-Thru Stories Nesting Boxes

What a unique twist on nesting boxes from Growing Tree Toys! This is a set of 4 transparent nesting boxes, each with an image on each side. As the boxes are place inside each other, a scene forms as you see each box’s image, thus creating a story. Each time one of the boxes is turned, it creates a whole new scene. I love how this toy really allows the child to use their imagination.  As is true with all nesting boxes, they also stack. The set is also eco-friendly - it features recycled paperboard, water-based varnish, and soy ink.

BUY IT: The See-Thru Stories Nesting Boxes Set - $16.

Play & Learn Activities Set

The Play & Learn Activities Set from Growing Tree Toys has three components: dominoes, lacing, and puzzles. The 28 dominoes are double sided: one side is the traditional dots (different colors on black) and the opposite side has familiar pictures (socks, houses, etc) instead of dots. The lacing box has 6 big lacing cards.  Finally there is a 25-piece double sided alphabet puzzle.  Great activity set for toddlers and preschoolers. This product is eco-friendly.

BUY IT: The Play & Learn Activity Set - $33.

Tangoes, Jr.

Tangoes, Jr. from Growing Tree Toys has seven double-sided puzzle cards (level one and level two) and seven geometric shapes, as well as a carrying case with handle and magnetic board making it perfect for traveling. Each card features a recognizable animal, object or person.  There is a slide out drawer on the case that holds all the shapes. This is an activity that will use your child’s cognitive skills (and strengthen them!). Tangoes, Jr is recommended for ages 4 and up.

BUY IT: Tangoes, Jr - $25

The Bilibo

The Bilibo from Growing Tree Toys is the most unique and multifunctional toy I have come across in a long time. The only limitations in how this toy is used depends on your child’s imagination. A few of the activity possibilities {from the Growing Tree website}: “spinning, rocking, hiding, toting, wearing, digging, sledding, and so much more!” Ours came in a fun, bright orange, but they are also available in green, pink, and blue.

BUY IT: The Bilibo - $29.
