It is quite late & I should be in bed. As much as I am a night owl, I would have loved to crawl into bed hours ago, but much needed to be done and my evening was spent… elsewhere. I’m juggling normal day to day life stuff, deadlines, and preparing to cook Thanksgiving Dinner for the very. first. time. It is true!! Other than being frightened out of my mind, lol, it is just taking a lot to get everything planned & purchased, in addition to all the other good stuff. There are LOTS of winners in the Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway & I will be drawing names soon, please bear with me. I’m excited myself to see who will win those fabulous prizes!!
All that said… the reason for this post…
A couple days ago I decided to organize and declutter Lil’ Roo’s closet, and a domino effect took place… when I was done, I had organized, cleaned, and decluttered the closet and the entire room. I took pics and planned to do a Tackle It Tuesday type post, but the day got away from me… Anyhoo…
I utilized the bottom rows of shelves in the closet for some of his toys, which meant the closet doors would now be open. It didn’t take him long to start closing them. I knew it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened, so Hubs and I discussed taking the closet doors down. Before he had a chance to do it, we heard a cry from Lil’ Roo’s bedroom and rushed (he’s still an only child so we always rush!) to his room. I scooped him up, kissed the pinched finger “all better” then he went to Daddy for more of the “all better” stuff. Moments later, Hubs was taking down the doors. He turned his back for a moment… (I just want to interject that this all happened so fast that I didn’t even know he took the doors down and I left Lil’ Roo’s room only a few minutes before.)
I heard another cry, much worse than the previous and was there almost instantly. There was a little blood on his finger that we both noticed and looked like it might have been a little scratch. At this point, I’m sitting beside him and scoop him into my arms, holding him against me, kissing the little scratch. He’s looking down… when he looks up… I just about had a heart attack. It was the very first of what may be many like events to come. (Skip to the next paragraph if you wanna miss the “ick” part.) His face was covered in blood. L Daddy was quick to get a washcloth so I could clean his face and find the source… a very nicely opened gash in the very center of his forehead… I was able to minimize the flow of blood and Daddy helped clean his face.
I fixed him up with Neosporin & a Bandaid and we went to work gathering things, changing (me out of now stained clothing), getting ready to take a little ride. It wasn’t life or death, but we wanted it to heal right and with as little scarring as possible.
I have to say the E.R. department did an awesome job. Check-in went fast because we went to the same hospital he was born in, so all his info was already there. No sooner had we sat down to wait then they were calling us back. We had someone coming in every few minutes to get information, check the wound, numb the wound, etc; so there wasn’t this overly long lag time waiting for the Doctor. She came in once to check it out herself, to confirm what she needed to do then left to get supplies. The Doctor and Nurse returned and proceeded to upset my son terribly. Bless his heart, it was not the most comfortable few minutes he’s lived through, but he really did good considering. They used the “glue” method, so no stitches! That is a wonderful thing!
I took pictures (nothing gross, lol) but it is late, so I’ll share those in the next day or so. On a positive note, the Fisher-Price Kid Tough Portable DVD Player (that Mommy was stashing for the trip) made a star appearance and was a hit!! It distracted him from the boo-boo and was watched all the way to the hospital, at the hospital, and on the way home. He loves it!! It really made the trip to the E.R. go a lot smoother.
All is well now, we just wait for the healing…

I hope you have an awesome night’s sleep Christy! I’ll also hope for a smooth healing for the little guy. My fourth son is our “stitches boy” and I hope the glue method works for you!
Hugs,
Shera

Eek! I’m sorry hun! The ER visits are always scary! Kelsie’s first was her pulling herself to standing on the entertainment center and next thing i know she had busted her lip open! It always happens so fast! Glad the hospital got you in quick!

Poor little guy! I hope you get some sleep and that it heals quickly. Surprising, we have yet to make a trip to the ER with our two littlest. The oldest went a time or two, but never ended up needing much more than an ice pack!

Goodness! I haven’t had a trip to the ER, yet with any of my children but they do try and get in some serious danger sometimes and it all like you said happens oh soo quickly! I’m glad to hear he’s okay though!
