Computer Down. Crashed? Memory?

Hi.  I’m not sure where to begin describing how frustrated and disheartened I feel right now.  I’ve spent half the day fighting with checking out the computer, this way and that way…

I walked by the computer earlier today, while I was in the midst of getting some much needed things done around the house, and though I could still sorta see what was supposed to be on the screen, there was all sorts of warbled, weird colored “stuff” covering it.  Um, yeah… not good.  I tried to turn it off, but it is always my luck that anytime a computer error occurs, no matter the computer, it never acknowledges the power button, so I had to unplug it.  I give it a minute or two, plug it back in and… it beeps… and doesn’t boot up. Oh, this is really not good.

My first thought is dust. I finally get it opened up – yeah that took awhile, don’t ask – and it was a tad dusty.  We had no canned air, so I sweet talked hubs into going to get me a can.  We live in a small town with limited options, so after checking a couple of places, only CVS had it and it cost us a whopping $10. I was desperate, so I kinda didn’t care, but STILL! $10. Wow.  That is so wrong.  So, I get all the dust cleaned out and try to power it up again. No go.

So I spend half the day trying this and that, trying to do a thing or two around the house still, and went to church this evening, but the rest of the time it was me and that dadgum computer going at it.

I finally narrowed it down to a “likely” problem – the memory card.  I plan to pick one up tomorrow and just hope that it fixes the problem.  If it is anything beyond that, I may just break down and cry. :(

I knew I wouldn’t be online or blogging much this week, but I did expect to have a little more access / online time than this!  I am using hubs’ laptop to type this post and skim some email, but his computer hates me, truly it does.  While typing, it’ll suddenly jump to a different part of the page and continue typing there. It makes it difficult to type anything of length (like this rambly post, LOL!).

There are some things I planned to post this week that it doesn’t look like I will be able to and I will do my best to make that up to you once the computer is back up and running (it better get back up and running or I’ll be in a heap of trouble) and after Sunday’s party.
