Just A Quick Note…

First, I promise I haven’t abandoned ship, LOL!  Things have gotten so crazy-hectic around here that I honestly do not know which end is up (if anyone does, maybe you could let me know?).

My nephew’s wedding reception is this afternoon and I will be heading there for last minute details shortly.  I wasn’t able to attend the actual wedding ceremony this morning due to their religious guidelines (we aren’t the same religion).  I have been helping my sister plan the reception (mainly she on the food and me on the décor, etc) and the past few days have been spent decorating and everything that goes into that.  So many little details.  As excited as I am about their wedding day, I have to say I am equally as excited about getting the planning and executing of the reception behind me, LOL!

In the midst of all this, I was also putting together the Back To School ’09 Guide and Ultimate Back To School Giveaway Package as well as preparing for the Simply Sensational Divas Review Launch Party (which is in full swing by the way with lots of giveaways – so go check it out!).  I’ve regrettably not been able to put all the energy and attention into these things as I would have liked, due to the timing of the wedding and everything that must go into it.

In the midst of all of this, we’ve had 2 car issues this past week.  First, we had to replace the fuel something-or-other and then a couple nights ago something on the road put a huge slice in one of the tires, so that had to be replaced as well.  I guess we file this under the “when it rains, it pours” category.

We are also in full potty training mode and we started having really awesome days to the point where I think it was finally clicking!  Unfortunately, we’ve had lapses the past couple of days, which is not actually his fault at all.

Needless to say, regular – or even sporadic at this point, LOL! – blog posting just has not been happening.  Hopefully once I am able to have the wedding planning behind me and other top of the to do list items checked off, I’ll get back to that. Please bear with me in the meantime. I also haven’t been able to deal with email.  My computer time has been especially minimal with everything going on, just 5 or so minutes here and there and some days not getting on it at all.

One cannot do it all it seems – and I’m exhausted.  On the bright side, we are planning a get-away vacation… no agendas, no planned activities, no hustle-n-bustle, just getting away to relax and take things slow – and to enjoy some fabulous sun and pool time!  Of course, I have things that need to be attended to that I’ll be working on, but just in bits-n-pieces.

Also, a quick update on Dad & the dialysis (thank you so much for all of the support – it means so very much!!).  He has been home from the hospital for a little while now (cannot remember if I updated about that) and has been going 3 times a week for dialysis.  It has been at a point of not knowing if it will need to be on-going or if it may stop in the near future.  The latest news is that they are looking into the possibility of allowing him to do it at home, overnight.  This may allow him to return to work, depending on the company’s current situation and how he feels with overnight dialysis, which is what Dad has been wanting to do for quite awhile now.  Again, thank you so much for all of your encouragement and support during this.

I’m off for now since I must leave in two hours to get last minute reception stuff done.

Thank you for visiting the original Shake The Salt!!

Have you ever in your life attended a wedding party and have felt bad for the groom because he harvested the most significant boneheaded friend to be the best man. It happened to me, we went a very chic wedding and the Best Man’s speech was so poor that it was scary that this guy was the groom’s best friend. Once they uncovered the best man, he got up to the microphone and provided this speech: “This couple, Bill and Monica are great and I hope their life is filled with fulfillment and all those things that make a marriage great.” This is what you get when you don’t plan in advance a speech. When I got married two years later I didn’t want my best man to be the subject of discussion for years into the future so I sent him this set up http://www.bestmanspeech.largestnetwork.com on how to write a best man speech. It relieved the hassle and his speech was superb, hilarious and poignant.
