Swizzie Live Auctions Site – Yea Or Nay?

Swizzie is an online auction site with a twist – they are live auctions instead of ongoing auctions (meaning they end in minutes instead of days) and you buy a pack of bids up front. The auctions are on a timer and each new bid raises the clock by one second. If it is below 15 seconds, it will increase the time by 15 seconds. If you are the final bidder when the clock zeroes out, you win the auction!

Although I am personally a little leary of paying anything up front for the “opportunity” to bid, I must say they there appears to be some rather awesome deals – all with no coupons or sales required! Many of these items would make great gifts or great additions to your own household for seriously low prices. Bids are only 60 cents each, which isn’t really too shabby once you consider the huge discount you get if you are the winning bidder on any particular item.

Would you use Swizzie to score hot deals on products? Have you used Swizzie?  It is a rather new-to-me site, so I’d love to hear some feedback!  Let me know what you think.

If you use recording software such as camstudio to record each bid you will find something really interesting about this site. You will find that the winner only bid once throughout the whole bid, and that goes for EVERY winner. Stranger or a sign of scammer?
Also on 3 occasions where i found myself to be the 2nd last bidder and couldnt bid further even though still have bid point.

Also find myself unable to make comment on their official twitter or facebook website.

SCAM SCAM SCAM DO NOT PLAY

I’m becoming really quite sure this site is a scam. One of the most telling things you can do is take a look at auctions not on the front page.

If you go to the front page, select a big ticket item like the iPhone 4. Then, in the address bar, manually add 5 to the end of the number (right now it looks like 142938). iPhone4′s at the moment go on bid every 50 minutes, but because the one on the front page gets bid on so much, the next ones end up not being shown. This manual navigation takes you to the next ones (sometimes there are many, many more). The interesting thing is that sometimes you’ll come across ones where the auction ended, but no one bid. You can tell because the big “SOLD” sign is on it, but there’s no bidders. All of a sudden the auction will start up, even though it still says “SOLD”… It will then proceed to sell at a ridiculously low price (unless you bid of course).

What’s really odd is you can get 5 or 6 iphones all going at the same time, *and all at the same price* by doing this. So now all of the auctions started at the same time?

This is ridiculous. +1 to scam.

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’ Then a voice says to me, ‘This is going to take more than one night.’ !l13w!
