CVS Here I Come!

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I here tell that it is a pretty decent week to check out CVS. It has been what seems like eons since I last stepped foot in a CVS, much less scored a great deal.  I was thinking it was about time for a friendly visit, and to honor the occasion, CVS seems as though it is going to do pretty well by me.

I want to thank Tara @ Deal Seeking Mom (here) and Becky @ Nickels –N- Dimes (here) for setting up the scenarios that truly allows me to take a lazy approach & still work the deals. Win!

Here is what I am thinking I’m going to do Monday (if you want to pretend this is my great mind at work, right on!, but in the real world, I’ve sorta copied most of this – check out the linkage above):

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 1:

Powerade (32-oz.) at $1.69
Butler GUM ToothBrush (2-pk.) at $3.99

$1/1 Powerade or Powerade Zero, exp. 11-30-08 (SS 7/13/08)
$0.75/1 GUM toothbrush, exp. 10-31-08 (RP 8/3/08)

Out of Pocket $3.93
ECBs earned $5.68
Profit $1.75 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

NOTE: I may have already used my Powerade coupons, but if I can roundup my buck-fifty ecb, it would about even out.

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 2:

Just for Men Touch of Gray at $7.99

$2/1 Just for Men printable
Try Me Free printable

Out of Pocket $5.99 ($0.31 after ECBs from Transaction #1!)
ECBs earned $7.99 + MIR of $7.99
Profit $15.67 on this transaction! (ECBs earned + MIR minus actual OOP)

NOTE:I don’t do rebates. I mean to. But I just don’t. Eight bucks is eight bucks, so I’m really going to try with this  one. J

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 3:

Listerine Whitening Pen at $9.99
Colgate Toothpaste at $2.99

$3/1 Listerine printable or $3/1 Listerine Whitening Pen or Quick Dissolving Strips, exp. 12-31-08 (V 9/28/08)
$1.50/1 Colgate printable

Out of Pocket $8.48 ($0.49 after $7.99 ECBs from Transaction #2!)
ECBs earned $7.00
Profit $6.51 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 4:

{Sun & Mon only deals}

(2) Pumpkin Pail at $0.99
(2) Brach’s Pumpkin’s Autumn Mix, Indian, or Candy Corn at $1.29
(2) Funlight 6? Smart Light at $0.99
Colgate Toothpaste at $2.99

$1.50/1 Colgate printable

Out of Pocket $8.03 ($1.03 after $7.00 ECBs from Transaction #3!)
ECBs earned $8.54
Profit $7.51 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 5:

(6) Playskool Wipes at $2.79 = $16.74

(1) Huggies Pullups at $9.99

$2/1 Playskool Diaper Product or Cottony Cloths Wipes (240-ct.), exp. 10-26-08 (V 9/21/08)

$2/1 Huggies Pull-Ups Training Pants, exp. 10-26-08 (SS 9/28/08)

Out of Pocket $12.73 ($4.19 after $8.54 ECBs from Transaction #4!)

ECBs earned: $10.00 (Spend $25 on certain baby products, get $10)

Profit $5.81 on this transaction (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

NOTE: Transactions #5 and #6 I actually mapped out myself & are not a copy n paste job. But I still got the info to work it out from the above links. J

Scratch this… Just realized Playskool coupon is not for same item so this won’t work. Trying to figure out how to work the baby deal cuz I need me some diapers! (Well, the toddler does anyway!)  :)

*****************************************

TRANSACTION # 6:

(3) Butler GUM ToothBrush (2-pk.) at $3.99 = $11.97

(1) pack of gum (?) to make it go over $12.25

(3) $0.75/1 GUM toothbrush, exp. 10-31-08 (RP 8/3/08) = $2.25

Out of Pocket depends on price of pack of gum

ECBs earned: $11.97

Profit $11+ on this transaction (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

*****************************************

SUMMARY

Powerade (32-oz.) at $1.69
(4) Butler GUM ToothBrush (2-pk.) at $3.99 = $15.96

Just for Men Touch of Gray at $7.99

Listerine Whitening Pen at $9.99
(2) Colgate Toothpaste at $2.99 = $5.98

(2) Pumpkin Pail at $0.99 = $1.98
(2) Brach’s Pumpkin’s Autumn Mix, Indian, or Candy Corn at $1.29 = $2.58
(2) Funlight 6? Smart Light at $0.99 = $1.98
(6) Playskool Wipes at $2.79 = $16.74

(1) Huggies Pullups at $9.99

(1) pack of gum (?) about $1.19

Total of items: $76.07

Total Cash Out of Pocket: $10.70

ECBs I’m walking away with: $11.97

Plus Earned $ With Rebate: $7.99

If I actually do that rebate, CVS will be paying me $9.69 to stop in and pick up my “goody bags”.  If I don’t mail it off, they will be paying me $1.27. Either way, it is looking pretty FREE!

NOTE: The $11.97 ECB can easily be used to pick up a few grocery items (milk, bread, etc) & one more Gum 2-pk, which would increase the total value of items and decrease ECBs walking away with to $3.99, OR the $11.97 can be saved to work a deal with next week.

Another thought is that I may try more transactions during the week.. there would still be (4) Listerine Whitening Pen deals remaining ($10 minus $3 coupon & earn $5 ECBs = $2 each) and another GUM 2-pk ($3.99 minus $0.75 coupon & earn $3.99 = overage). Annnnd Listerine Cool Blue comes out to be 50 cents after coupon & ecbs. So, who knows… may do more deals later in the week.  :)

The best part? I get diapers (Pull-ups) as a part of this deal. Very cool.

Frugal Deals Roundup 9/14

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I have been in a slump the past couple or so weeks and haven’t done any deals and also didn’t update the Frugal Deals Roundup.  {Gasp!}  I am ready to see what is HOT this week and get me some deals!!  How about you?

NOTE: If you regularly post the deals / scenarios for a specific store and have a special category set up for that store, let me know and I’ll be glad to add you to the master list below.  To make the posting process a little quicker, I tend to link to the store category as opposed to specific posts (which also helps if you add an update to that store’s category during the week – it’ll bring that up along with your other posts for that store.).

I’m not sure why I combined the two transaction for the pic, because it got kinda confusing!  Even though I earned $10.78, then $7.50 I only counted the last $7.50 as I “spent” the $10.78 on transaction # 2.  However, I must say I got a heck of a lot of stuff for $15!  LOL!

Oh!  I forgot which transaction it was on, but I also got a bottle of CVS Aspirin for FREE!  The first receipt you get at CVS (if you are signed up for the extra bucks program) in August they are printing a coupon for a free item.

Walmart 8/4: Pd $33 Saved $39

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

This is nowhere near as good as my previous Walmart deal where I spent $2 and saved $102 (way over that actually if you add up “on sale” items, which Walmart does not break down), but I did get a lot of FOOD items, plus oodles of other stuff.  I purchased more one-subject notebooks (you cannot beat the price at 5 cents each!!) and since I found out the regular price, I have a note about additional savings on that one (that isn’t part of the savings total I’m stating for this transaction)…. So here goes….

Free or almost free deals in this color…

(2) South Beach Living drink mix @ $2, (2) $2 IP coupons = FREE

(1) Koolaid packet @ $0.20 (Only had one! Shelf was EMPTY!!)

(1) Mr Bubbles @ $1.76

(1) Gallon Milk @ $4.32 (OUCH!!)

(1) Strawberry syrup @ $1.28

(1) Kraft squeeze mayo @ $2.50 (on sale)

(1) Apple Juice (64 oz I think) @ $2.50

(1) Pair of shorts for B. @ $2.96

(3) Lightbulb 4-pk @ $0.76

Frugal Deals Roundup 8/10

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Here’s the roundup on where to find the deals for the upcoming week.  I basically started doing this as a reference & reminder for myself, but if it helps you too, all the better!

If you have deals or deal scenarios, you are welcome to add them to Mr. Linky below.  I will be posting my deals form this past week and linking them in.  How’d you do this past week?  What deals are you working on for the upcoming week?

BABY DEALS

Baby Cheapskate brings you the deals on baby goods all week long.  Check out the diaper & formula deals summary for this week.

Money Common Sense has some good info on getting a deal on diapers this week.

Also check below for the baby food deal @ Publix & baby needs ECB deal @ CVS.

PUBLIX

As I mentioned last week, Fiddledeedee is the best source for all the Publix deals.  Sarah updates her blog with the new sales week’s deals on Thursdays, breaking it down by deals with printable coupons, deals with non-printables (inserts, tearpads, etc), Organic deals, etc.

Be sure to check out the deals she has posted to get Earth’s Best Organic baby food @ 29 cents per jar plus a 6 pack of Yoplait yogurt for 68 cents!!  You’ll also want to check her left sidebar for current Publix promo offers.

For more Publix deals, check out Homeschooling Four and Hot Coupon World.

Breaking news!  :)   Denise @ The Centsible Sawyer is back to bloggy biz, so you can also check out Publix deals there.

WINN-DIXIE

Homeschooling Four posts the Winn-Dixie deals each week & they have a deal posted where you can get brownies for 90 cents a box through 8/12.  The new week’s deals should be posted Wednesday or Thursday.  You can also check out the Winn-Dixie deals & convo @ HCW.

CVS

You’ll want to check out Deal Seeking Mom for this week’s CVS deals and scenarios, including FREE Alavert, FREE Skin Effects, and an ECB deal on baby care items.  Tara also shares tips in CVS For Newbies, if you are just starting out @ the CVS game (or not and still want tips!).

Also check out The Centsible Sawyer for CVS Deals + Scenarios, including a deal to get FREE Lamisil or Lamisilk.  She also breaks down the food deals as sometimes you can get a better deal there on an item or two than the grocery store, and be sure to join the CVS Superstars.

More CVS Deals can be found at: I Heart CVS, HCW and Coupon Cravings.

WALGREEN’S

I have $10 in Register Rewards again this week, after rolling my last $10 into the Irish Spring deal, so I guess I’m a Walgreen’s shopper again this week!

* Free Bic pens @ Walgreen’s this week!

Check out these links for this week’s Walgreen’s deals: Cherry Picker, Thrifty In The Cincy, Centsible Savings, and HCW.

TARGET

Gather your coupons & get lots of freebies and great deals at Target this week!

WALMART

Denise has the updated Walmart deals, just remember you may have already done some of them, as Walmart prices + coupons = lots of free or cheap things and doesn’t always depends on sales, so it isn’t a brand new deal list each week.  Remember the deal I did the other week where I got over $100 in stuff for $2? Some of those deals are still active! (I did another Walmart deal this past week I’ll be posting soon).

Also check out Deal Seeking Mom for Walmart deals & samples.

BOOKMARK THIS:

Hot Coupon World has a coupon database where you can type in the product name and it will pull up a list of any current coupons and the source.  This is worth bookmarking, people, if you haven’t already. You may need to register at the forum to access it.  Email me if you want my ID as a reference.

BeCentsAble hosts the Grocery Gathering where you can find more stores & deals each week.

JOIN IN:

Do you have scenarios for deals this week (at any store, not just the ones listed above)?  Did you score a great deal (retail stores, thrift stores, yard sales, any kind of deal)?  Post about it on your blog and add the link to THAT post in the Mr Linky below. In the name field, add the store name or a couple of words to let us know what your post is about.  More than one post? Add each of them (may have to refresh the page to open the Mr Linky fields back up).  No blog or didn’t post to your blog?  Just leave a comment with your deal or scenario.

Frugal Deals Roundup

Monday, August 4th, 2008

.

Lookie here, y’all.  Another “something new” at Shake The Salt.  Since I’m always scouting out frugal deals , I thought it would just make sense to put it in one place so others can refer to it too.  Just to sweeten the deal, I’ve added Mr. Linky so you can link to your frugal shopping posts too. And wait, that’s not all… (wow, getting the whole infomercial thing going on here, kinda scary!).  You can also post ANY frugal deal you got, not just retail stores.  If you snagged a great deal at the thrift shop or had a great yard sale find, link it in.  More details further below.

It’s Sunday!  New inserts are out and new sales have started! Woo hoo!!  Some stores go mid-week to mid-week, so there a couple more days of those sales before the new sales week begins.  I was contemplating about the new round of deals and got the idea to start a deal roundup… kind of a thinking out loud sort of thing… and just see where it goes.

FYI:  There are FOUR inserts today & the P&G alone makes for some great deals @ CVS.

I need to get some scenarios together because I plan to make a trip into the city to do some deal shopping (I have my not-fave grocery store & CVS here in town, so I have to go to the city for the other stores).  I could use some hot deals, so if you know of any, feel free to comment! I have $10 in Walgreen’s reward money that I can use, but I just haven’t gotten into rebates yet… I always mean to but forget, so it doesn’t work… so I probably won’t do their rebate deals.  I have $11 in CVS ECBs to roll.  I’d like to do a little grocery shopping, preferably at Publix.  I may also hit up Target or Walmart, depending on the deals.  I guess I need to buy the All You magzine because it still has not shown up yet.  I keep hearing about how great it is this issue.  (Wonder if someone stole mine before it made it to me?).

Off to go checking out deals…

Baby Cheapskate has a list of this week’s diaper and formula deals. I did the Walgreen’s diaper deal last weekend, so I’m actually good for right now, but wanted to pass this along.

Publix…  (Thurs – Wed)

Fiddledeedee has THE BEST info on the Publix deals each week.  She also has Organic Fridays (coupons & deals) and starting tomorrow (Monday) she will be doing Publix Super Savers, where you can link in your Publix deals.  (BTW, there is a giveaway involved - check it out).
